Failed OCLT?

Yes. It needs to be TFP clear.

SLAM on.

Clear water is the opening to OCLTs. You shouldn't have bothered without clearing the first hurdle. But some practice OCLTs never hurt. So. :)

Keeping slam level at 24 will that hurt my. 18-year old liner?
The CYA buffers the active HOCL at slam level to be less harsh than tap water with 0 CYA and 1 FC. Tap water may have up to 4 FC. Would you fill the pool with tap water ? It's dangerous stuff.

Least we can do my friend. You have bigger fish to fry at the moment. Rest up and tell the help they're doing a great job.

This is definitely a family affair! I taught both my kids and their friends how to test FC and PH. That way if they want to swim they know what is safe and what isn’t.

Never hurts to have a chemistry lesson involved!

Keep at it Chuck and Fam!

Hello. Just for giggles and grins I tried to take an alkalinity reading and the green water turned yellow instead of red. What's up with that? The pH reading was pretty much off the Taylor chart eight maybe higher. Keeping the FC at the 24 Mark for now is that normal to get those readings while I'm in the middle of a slam?

Both are normal. You can add extra drops of 0007 to neutralize the higher FC for the TA test.

For PH you have to wait until the FC is under 10.

I still can't pass tfp clear in the deep end but getting closer. Should I keep up the slam now that my cya is 50 from all the water exchanges I would keep the FC at 20.? When do you think I should let the chlorine down to 6 to 8 with the 50 cya.?
