Failed OCLT?

I can keep using the liquid chlorine. It is 10% I got it from Walmart. Started with 35 gallon and have 15 gallon left at this point. So I'll keep adding an order more if I need to. Thank you
I’m just reading this as I slam too but omg the plastic bottles on garbage day are killing me! Can we do the same thing with the granules for less waste? Is it as effective?

No. It would take a lot of powdered shock/granules, and the side of effects of them increasing the CYA would be a disaster. As you have learned, a high CYA es no bueno.

I meant hypochlorite but I saw it’s very expensive
There are different forms of hypochlorite. Sodium Hypochlorite is our liquid chlorine. :goodjob: Calcium Hypo is just that ... cal-hypo that can increase the calcium level.

Then the are the trichlor and dichlor family of powder/shock products typically seen at the local pool store that increase CYA (boooooooo!). :)

Looks like it held overnight 28 at 9:00 p.m. and 28th at 8:00 a.m. I'm going to let it go through the day see how much comes down without adding. And I'll do another oclt tonight just to be sure. Do you think that's a smart thing to do. Cya seems to be holding at 60 so even if it goes down a little bit today that would be okay because it should be at 24 . Correct?. If it goes down to 24 today from the Sun. I'll check it again tonight to see if it holds. The pool is clearing up pretty nice. Thanks for your help

Certainly your call. You passed as far as we are concerned, but some people just like to ride it out one more day. Totally up to you.

Yes, an FC of 24 would be good. :goodjob:

Good morning everyone. Spine surgery went well moving slow but moving. Second morning in a row with oclt good holding at 24 FC at a 60 cya. I'm going to brush and vacuum one more time before I go into the mode of letting it sit to bring the chlorine down between 7 and 9. Between 7/9 is what it should be correct? Do I just left the Sun burn it down and then start doing my alkalinity and ph? And is that the order? What should I use to adjust alkalinity and pH when it is time? Before the slam I had a 90 alkalinity and a 7.4 pH. After the vacuuming I will check to see why a again just to be sure where to keep my FC. Thanks for all your help

Welcome . I mean. Great to see you're doing ok. !!!!!

Sweet. Well done !!! No CCs and no traces of algae whatsoever, right ?

Maybe. This time of year you will likely need to dose over target, to remain free and clear above min after the daily loss. It could be 4ppm some days. But 4 ppm may last a week amd a half in April or Sept. So you adjust your daily target based upon recent loss to never sniff min at the end of the day. Not even a whiff of a sniff.

Yup. Post em all up when you get them and we'll hatch a plan. They likely don't require much, if at all.

After letting sit for oclt I can see the bottom of the deep end and there are four spots as big as my fist that have faint green spots. I vacuum up with my small handheld vacuum. I'm not sure if it's traces of algae or what it is but that is all I see. What do you think.? I was going to do a brush let' sit and vacuum one more time before I go into letting it sit mode.

Chuck! Glad you’re back in action!

@Newdude @Texas Splash and I got you covered!

If you’re seeing any sign of algae brush and brush and brush to waste. Remember the 3 Criteria:
Crystal Clear Water - No visible sign of Algae
CCs below 0.5
Passing OCLT

Keep on the higher end of Chlorine even when you come down from SLAM, that helps prevent the rebloom of algae AND if you’re like the rest of us dealing with any excessive heat, your daily loss of FC will stay in your “safe range”

Stoopid clear ? Like where did the water go clear ?

I think with 2 passed OCLTs you have wind blowing dust or such into the pool. It's been windy here for a week and my floor is poofy again.

Let the FC drift down. Perform another OCLT once it gets to target range just to be extra - extra sure.

*unless the water isn't stoopid clear. Then keep going.

That is exactly what I was thinking I don't think it is algae. Will do as you say thank you so much I am going to vacuum today I'm going to vacuum those spots first just to get them up out of there and go to waste with it. Then I'll do a full brush and let it sit and do a full vacuum. I will let FC come down today and check it tonight and do another oclt.
