Exposed top steps over night

It wasn’t black. It was a grayish color. I was just told the ice freezing to the surface causes what I was seeing. I forgot as to why cause it was after my first season. I really don’t remember.

I just saw that thread. I have diamond brite. Maybe it’s with Diamond brite. Mine was kinda rough I remember. It was not scale. My water is perfect. That’s about all I remember.
