Etiquette on old posts

Thanks for all the great info archived in the forums! I know it's better to start a new thread for specific questions related to old posts, but what about just liking something really useful from a while back? Is it nice to know your effort is still helping others and is appreciated, or does it result in annoying notifications?

Sure, you can give a post a thumbs-up. No problem. If someone tries to post to an old thread, we have no way of knowing if the original poster is even online anymore, so we generally move the new post to its own thread and maybe show a link where it came from. But "like" any post/thread all you want. Even this reply.

You can always send the original OP a PM...

I don't believe just adding a "like" will cause the old thread to restart...
