EasyTouch4 AUX relay question

Hello, I have an EasyTouch4 controller and want to use AUX4 which is not currently wired with anything on it. When I press the AUX4 button, the light does not come on. Is there a setting to enable this relay?

Welcome to the forum.

An ET4 does not have an AUX 4 relay. So the light will not come on.
There are 4 relays, the pump/filter relay, and AUX 1-3.

Not a setting, but if you're comfortable with electrical work you can convert your ET4 to an ET8 by soldering a 1K through-hole resistor (like this one: CFR16J1K0 | Digi-Key Electronics) to your control board and adding relays.

Alright guys, I added the resistor and turned the power back on and the board would not boot properly. It lit up but the screen stayed blank and AUX 1-3 lights were on. But thothing was working. I took the resistor off and its fine again.

R41 was already installed. I had just added R42.

I have not yet added the relays. I didn't think it would need them installed just to test it out. Any ideas?

I've never seen the resistor fail on an ET4 to 8, only on lite models with older firmware (before Pentair combined them all).

- I've had boards not not initially, but pressing reset did the trick for me... With the resistor soldered on, does resetting the board - when it won't boot - do anything?
- What firmware version does your outdoor board have?

Hello, thank you for responding. I have not messed with it again yet but I will. It has version 2.18 I believe. Need to double check to be sure. Pool was installed 2 years ago.

Ok, I did try it again and it worked. Probably just needed to reset it last time.

Now here is a question. Is it possible to use these relays for 12V DC? The things I want to controll are 12V DC hose valves. I can probably get AC versions if it is not possible to use these relays to power a DC device.

The relays can control a 12V DC device, you just need a source of 12V DC to run through them. The LINE side is where you feed the power source, the LOAD side is what is controlled. The RELAY itself does not provide power, it is just a switch.

The relays are ok to run 120V AC or 12V DC through for certain? I was looking for the specs on the relays and did not see it specified.

Look on the relay. It will show what you can feed through it. There are amperage limits, etc. But what you are using it for, no issue.

thanks, it just says 25A 240VAC or 25A 120VAC. But I think you are right, should not be a problem to put 12VDC through it.

One last question, how to find what size the mounting screws are for the relays. I got new relays but they did not come with mounting screws. Anyone know offhand or have a part diagram for the easy touch? Thank you!

In case anyone else ever does this modification. You will need 8-32 x 3/8" screws to mount the relays. I just got some screws from mcmastercarr.com and installed the relays today and they are all working. And I will soon hook up the valves and pump to them.

My project is for prefiltering the water to the pool because we have dirty well water that was staining the pool. Theres a 200gal rain tank that we fill. Then run that through a sediment filter loop with a small pump for a few hours. Then another vale that dumps the water into the pool. I am going to automate the process and hook the filtered water tank to the pool auto fill line.
