This is our 6th year with the Intellibrite 5g and it's never been an issue. Except now all it will do it turn on and turn off - no color changes of any type.

I haven't tried the light yet this year (we only have one) , but the only new change I have is I hooked up screenlogic in place of the old handheld remote. But even at the main panel, it does the same thing. The light circuit on the ET4 is still configured as intellibrite and has all the right options - they just don't do anything. It seems what's broken is the power-cycling that normally happens to change the light color. It used to go out while it did that, not it does nothing and the light stays on.

I have actually managed to change the colors by quickly turning off and back on the light circuit (aux1) via the controller, if that helps sort the difference.

Does this sound like:
a) the relay for the circuit?
b) the circuit board for the ET?
c) the light itself

Seems to me it's likely either the relay or the board. I'm not actually using all my relays so I could try and move the wiring to a different relay, just not keen on doing it.

Anyone seen anything like this or have any suggestions? I can find all kinds of stuff on the light not working at all but nothing on this particular issue.

When you attempt to change light colors, can you hear the relay clicking in your EasyTouch panel on and off a number of times? If so, then the ET board is probably OK as it is supplying on and off voltage to the coil in the relay. If you have a spare relay, then do move the Intellibrite circuit to that relay and try it. If it still does not work, I would wire the light through a regular light switch such that you could turn on the switch quickly a number of times to see if the light responds to the power on and off cycles.

Did not hear any clicking when I was at the panel doing it, which I did note was a departure from previous.

I manually turned the circuit on and off rapidly and this did actually change the light color. So it seems the light itself is responding to power cycling.

Is this possibly one of those things where maybe a power cycle for the whole panel might help?

Well, I think you eliminated the 5G light as the culprit which is a good thing considering the cost and labor of replacing it. I would try resetting the ET board by pressing the reset button on the panel. Strange acting stuff can sometimes clear itself up by doing a reset. If that dosent do it, then swapping the relay is about the only think left to determine if the relay is bad or the ET board is bad.

Tried the reset button, didn't change anything. I hear the relay click when I turn the circuit on or off, but not when I try to change colors. I programmed the spare relay as a light as well (not hooked up to anything yet) and I didn't hear any clicks from it when changing colors either. But I'm not sure I ever did.

Next step is clearly to move the wires from the relay it's currently on to the other one.

I know this is getting a little ahead of things but an additional question...
What is the difference in the 520659 and the 520712? If I need to replace one of them, I'm not sure which one I would need. For that matter, what's the difference in a 520657 and a 520711? Is it that the 52071x come with the pad and everything ("single body")?

Don,

I doubt it is your relay or your ET PCB... I suspect it is a setting issue with your ScreenLogic set up..

Can you post a couple of screen captures of your ScreenLogic set up pages.. 2 of 5 and special lighting..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Here's the pics. The "Pool Light" was my original setup, I did the "House Light" recently just as troubleshooting. The wiring is all still to aux1.

I initially didn't mess with the config at all really. At least not intentionally. It did seem to me at some point, after I noticed the problem, that the light circuit was showing as "generic" in screenlogic. Not sure if I accidentally did that or what. But you can see it doesn't now.

You gave me an idea Jim!! I went into the screenlogic config and I actually set the pool light circuit to [Not Used] and saved it. Then I exited and then went back in and changed it to back to Intellibrite and saved it again. Voila!! Lights working normally now!!!

Not sure if anyone else has run into this, but this might be something to keep in mind for folks. Seems like setting it to not used cleared something. It wasn't just a screenlogic thing either because I tried from the main panel as well.

Thanks!

Don,

Thanks for the feedback... I don't have the IntelliBrite lights but I told ScreenLogic I did.. When I looked at the Special lights box, where yours is all blank above, mine showed my light circuit name "Pool Light" . It also then showed up under the "Lights" tab on the Main ScreenLogic page... which it did not do before...

Glad that you were able to figure this out. From a troubleshooting point of view, it is almost always what you did last that is the problem. That is why I thought it had something to do with your ScreenLogic installation rather than a relay or your PCB..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Totally agree on the troubleshooting - that's where I started first. But that's where it's tricky. I changed the values - they even showed up at the main panel that way. So I had ruled out screenlogic. The screen shots above were from before I fixed it. And they look exactly the same now as well.

Didn't realize it could get hung up like it did and even survive a reset. I'd say an important take away here is that this sort of thing is possible and for others, you might have to do a "soft config reset" by setting something to not used and then reconfiguring the circuit.

Quick update here...Problem came back. I called Pentair and the guy was on it immediately. Said I needed to make sure that light circuit was in the "Special lights" section. Not sure I ever went back and looked at this, but he told me when you program it, it's supposed to put it in there. Somehow, mine got taken out again. But that apparently was the magic behind the fix anyway.

Thank you for posting the solution to this issue! I had the same problem and this fixed my issue.
