Easytouch settings after power outage

We will see more of these problems as the power grid in the US becomes more fragile and unreliable.
So true. I'm considering a whole house generator because of that.

I guess there is not enough cause to warrant it, but American homes (all homes?) are very much under protected from things like outages and brown outs and spikes and lightning strikes (when they easily could be). "Back in the day," when appliances weren't smart or computerized, really only mechanical things, outages and brown-outs wouldn't cause much damage, if any.

Now, even my toaster has an integrated circuit in it! Just about everything in our homes does. But whole-house electrical protections have not become more prevalent, even as the grid supply becomes worse every day. :(

Directly connecting a $3500 laptop to the power pole outside with a solid copper wire is just asking for it (he says as he types doing that very thing)!!

You need to put all sensitive equipment powered by battery buffer systems that smooth any voltage transients.

A whole house generator may not switch the hose off the grid in time to prevent equipment damage if the power gets dirty with voltage fluctuations. The devil is in the details of the sensitivity and responsiveness of alternate power systems.

I have many devices in my house connected to APC or Cyberpower batteries. Including all my home network equipment.

I want to put my router, modem, POE switch and POE cams on APC, and maybe my HA computer, too, if I can afford one that’ll power all that. Hopefully before a need that will make me mad I didn’t do it sooner!!

To make matters worse, my home’s builder put my CB box on the outside, and in the front yard! I lock it, but that will stop exactly zero perpetrators from shutting down all my systems. :(
