Easy Touch 4 question

I am under construction and purchased the easy touch 4 with salt. So the four will be used for pump, salt, lights and bubblers. and still will have plenty of power after those. Is it possible to run some power from that to have a couple electrical outlets out by pool instead of running a whole new line from house breaker box?

Cag,

The SWCG MUST use the Pump/Filter relay.. That gives you 3 Aux relays.

VS pumps get constant AC power and do not need a relay.

Every light that you want to "independently" control will need a relay and most likely a transformer. If you don't care if all the lights are on at the same time, and that they are all the same color, then you only need one relay.

If you are just controlling an actuator to turn on your bubbler, then you do not need a relay. If you are controlling a light in the bubbler then you will need an Aux relay.

If you want the extra outlets to have constant AC power, then no relay is needed, but they need to get their power from a GFCI breaker. Keep in mind that any electrical outlet must be 10' from the pool water.

What the heck is "Smart Logic"?????

I have never heard of a Pentair "SmartFlo " VST. Are you sure it is not SuperFlo VST??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Brand new pool set up - I am trying to figure out why the app is not showing all my equipment attached to my Easy Touch panel and only get this menu, doesn't have any info for my system. Finds the Protocol Adapter just fine but this is all I get. None of the options on this menu show anything. TYIA

I have the Screen Logic outside transmitter mounted and plugged into the Easy Touch out by the pool pump and the inside transmitter plugged into the protocol adapter which is plugged into my internet router with a Cat5.

I was told I will only be able to control one speed of my pump on this because I purchased the SmartFlo not the Intelliflo which is a newby mistake but also a cost saving decision pump wise so I just have the pump on manual with a schedule set for the three speeds but it still is connected to the easy touch on a breaker. When I click on schedules it is blank and has add new scheduled program but I can't select it.

I have four Globrites hooked up to two transformers hooked up to the easy touch also each on their own breaker. Two lights are in the wall of the pool and two are in baja shelf bubblers. (After firing up the pool the two globrites in the wall are not even coming on which I have a call into Pentair) The two bubbler lights do come on when I select the number on the panel for them.

In the app when I click on lighting it shows turn lights on/off and lighting as the options but when I click on turn lights on/off there is nothing there and the lighting option shows all on, all off, set, sync and swim but none of those selections do anything. Doesn't list the two separate transformers each with two globrites. Right now that is all I have set up on the easy touch panel, the pump and two light transformers and I am wanting to change my bubbler valve to automatic so I can run on this too.

I'm assuming that the pump and the two sets of lights would show up.

Cag,

Who programmed the system?

I doubt that you are actually talking to the EasyTouch.... but the whole thing sounds like a hot mess... Appears to me like you have several different issues, caused by different things.

I'd be glad to help, but we need to be on the same page.. So show me several pics..

I want to see a pic of the main panel showing the LCD and all the buttons.

Then I need to see pics of all the breakers, relays and wiring.

And finally a pic with the front panel folded down, so I can see the circuit card and all the wiring.

As a side note.. Your VS pump is not going to show up under 'pumps' as it is not being controlled by the RS-485 com port. Your IC20 should show up under IntelliChlor, but it has to be enabled and it has to be connected to the RS-485 com port.

As a test, go to your outside panel and push the 'F' button and see what happens. Also see if the LCD shows AUTO with Pool and temperatures.. Let me know you find..

Thanks,

Jim R.

The guys that installed all my equipment set it up

here are pics. Thank you so much!

Cag,

Thanks for the pics.. things look a lot better than I though they would.. :goodjob:

It is past my bed time, so I will have to get back to you tomorrow.. :(

But in the meantime.. Your pump is being controlled by a single external signal coming from the Pump/Filter relay.. That is the relay in the top left of the cabinet. This same relay is what powers the salt cell when in the Pool or Spa modes. All that looks ok.

I don't know much about your pump, but for it to run, the system needs to be in Auto and in the Pool or Spa modes and your pump has to be set up to run from an external control signal.. Show us a pic of your pump's display and maybe we can figure it out.

How far is it from your outside antenna to your inside antenna.. If to far it won't work.. It is not Wi-Fi, is old 900 MHz phone link of some kind...

Use the little LCD, and the menu button, and see if you can set a schedule for the 'Pool" circuit.

I will look at the rest tomorrow most likely after lunch as I have several appointments tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Cag,

I don't see anything wrong, but there is a couple of things I can't see.

On the back wall of the EasyTouch is the surge card that powers the salt cell. At the bottom of that card is a connector, that I assume powers the outside ScreenLogic antenna. I need you to double check that all wires have the correct color.. Left to right it should be Black, Green, Yellow and Red.. Then follow the wires up to the outside antenna and confirm those wires also have the correct color to the correct pins. It is marked on the circuit card.

As a test for your lights, using the outside panel, push Aux 1 until the little light above the button comes on. Check to see of the right light in the pool came on. The push Aux 2 and do the same thing.. If both lights come on, great. If not, push Aux 3 and see what happens.

Please let me know what you find...

Thanks,

Jim R.

Electrically, if Aux 1 works then Aux 2 should work as they both get the same AC power, from the same source, and they are connected together.

Your Aux 3 relay is not connected to anything.

I just want to make that when you push the Aux 3 button on the panel, that your pool light does not come on... The relays can get connected wrong.

Do you have a voltmeter???

If the Pool light does not come on, it could be..

The relay is bad
The relay driver is bad
Pool light is not actually connected at the external transformer.
If a color changing LED light, maybe your Circuit Function for Aux 2 is not set to "IntelliBrite"..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi there, they don't come on when anything is pushed.

On Screenlogic, everything says there is lights on the outside antenna on the board? I don't see any lights in there when I take the cover off. Is there supposed to be lights on that board? Dang thing has me stumped.

Post pics of what you are looking at that has you stumped.

Cag,

It does not sound like your outside antenna card is connected correctly..

Show some pics... The antenna card should have a solid LED power light, and flashing or pulsing LED TX and/or RX lights indicating it is communicating with EasyTouch and the other antenna.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Cag,

Your outside antenna does not at all look like my outside antenna... Does it have a part number?

The RS-485 plug at the bottom is odd.. It appears to be wired correctly based on the writing on the right side of the plug, but it is backwards from all the other RS-485 plugs that Pentair uses...

I am also puzzled as to why there are no led lights that indicate power and TX-RX data..

Thanks,

Jim R.
