I'm struggling with my 10' x 30" pool. Regarding the Strainer Grids...are you supposed to be able to feel the suction/return on these grids? Intex is telling me no. I think they're incorrect. I've replaced the pump and everything looks like it's hooked up correctly, yet I can't feel a suction on the grid in the pool or return water coming out? The jet works that blows water in pool, but it's not strong. I guess I'm just used to a bigger pool! LOL! Help! And thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

No, you should not feel suction. If you did it would be an entrapment hazard. Pool systems are required by the VGBA to be designed for anti-entrapment.

Thank you so much! So I'm guessing I shouldn't feel the water coming out from the opposite grid? I've always had a large above ground pool so I'm not familiar with the smaller pools. The jet seems weak as well, but it is a very small pool so I'm guessing that is normal as well? It just doesn't seem that the water is circulating well in the pool., even though the pump/filter is new. When I add the shock I have to manually disburse it because the jet is not powerful enough to circulate it. Is this normal? Thanks, so much for your help!

I'm getting a vacuum, but I think it hooks to my outside water hose if I'm not mistaken? Yes, water is flowing from the jet, but not as strong as I'd like but apparently it's just a small pool and the jet is not as powerful as I'm used to? Thank you so much for your reply!
 
There are two types of vacuums, one that does connect to a water hose, or you can get one that connects to the suction side of the pool. But the pump you have is what it is, you could always upgrade to a bigger pump but it honestly wouldn't be worth it on that size of pool. Unless you can get one used :)

Yes, I'm not going to spend any more money on this small pool. I wish I would have gone with a bigger one but I really don't have the room for a bigger one! Thank you for your help! The pump costs more than the pool LOL!

So very true. I got the same pool as you years ago on sale for like $60. There was a small leak on the suction side that I didn't know about and I always had the pump running, so woke up one morning to a failed pump after a few days of putting it up. Same pump at that store was more than the pool lol.

Enjoy this one until it's time to replace it or the pump and you can then upgrade.

Oh, wow! I paid $43 for mine tee hee! They're not that easy to put up, either! LOL! Hey, that's a nice bike you have!
