Ducks!! How to keep them out of the pool?

I didn't figure they did, but my wife is in these homesteading groups and hears all this stuff she just HAS to try. And why not? We live on 22 acres surrounded by national forest. The neighbors won't complain.
I had 35.63 acres in Iowa. Less than a quarter acre here. Bogus and sad. Much more storage space there too...

I am a ham radio operator. I had a tower with a tribander on it too there. Chickens and ducks. An antique tractor that basically was stolen from me when I left.

But I don't have to cut grass or shovel snow here. I don't have to drive on gravel anymore.. I have an in ground pool that I can use for six months at least a year.

It's a tradeoff I suppose. I also miss the oak trees and an actual creek with water in it (you'd understand if you lived in the West). I do miss real green, not the pastel green here.

But the desert plants are incredible survivors too and many are beautiful. I kind of like both. I always had a thing for mountains, too.

It's hard. I had to do it for my career and probably retirement... But I am not sure if this is where I will stay until I retire or die. We will see.

I sure the heck liked digging a hole in the Midwest better though! :)

This thread is interesting... I have a pintail decoy that i attached a container to create a tab floater - we have ducks ? &594BBF4A-99A1-4340-A1A6-D3E4F4680FB7.png geese all around & in the pond behind us but none have ever tried to get in our pool. I’m wondering now if my lonesome pintail was a deterrent? He’s somewhat faded from the sun maybe they thought he was sick ? & stayed away?
