Hello all,

New pool owner here. Typically I use muriatic acid to lower PH. Today I used dry acid. Now after reading through some forums on here I realized that was a mistake. Our pool is 11,000 gallons and I added about 20 ounces of dry acid. I made sure to brush the floor thoroughly after adding. Are the amount of sulfates left behind from this amount of acid going to be damaging to the plaster/cell?

Thanks in advance!

In theory it is harmful to the cell etc. However if you do backwash frequently there shouldn't be any problem.
In Greece professional installers , inject sulfuric few inches before the cell with automatic pump and no issues at all.
Also sulfuric acid is the way to go and Hayward ph pump doesn't allow using muriatic acid.
I believe that there are wont be a immediate problem but probably in the long run. If you want to stick to tbf methods use muriatic. I use muriatic too although all professionals and experts suggest sulfuric acid or dry
