Hey I have a new service guy and am a little skeptical. In prior years my pool was crystal clear in a day and I was in the water a few days thereafter.
This year wiith new service, when opening, we had some issues with the wiring that I was able to help out with. Then I had to help again when it wouldn't start. (it just needed a full restart.)
Then we had a little scare because he almost poured in Diathomas Earth that my filter does not use.
Anyway, eventually the filter was operational but we had to shock the pool to kill the bacteria/algae. The water got clean but was milky/cloudy. We waited a few days and this didn't go away. He cant vacuum until he can see the floor.
He told me to buy floc and pour it in the skimmer, let it run for four hours and then it will settle on bottom. Turn off the pump and leave off until after he vacuums.
Is this a good idea w cartridges? What if vacuuming doesn't get everything?
(I didn't use testing kits you recommend, at this point I am just posting to make sure flocculent is ok with cartridge filters.
FWIW in the cheap tests, everything was normal except for low calcium hardness and Cyuric acid. )
I am way more involved now than with former pool service, i'm reading all the guides on this site in the next few weeks. Hopefully will do it on my own in the future.
