Dormant pool for at least 3 years - what can I save?

Many of us also have hot tubs - I think they’re a great option for folks who don’t need to entertain kiddos. Sorry your pool is looking to be worse off than u thought.

Thanks. It stinks but I am not surprised. Probably time to move on.

And yeah the wife and I had the same conversation about the hot tub. We are 50 and no longer have small kids (college kids now) so yeah the pool would be nice but I don't think its been getting the use it had before when they were younger.

Just trying to figure out now if the hot tub would fit on our deck/screened porch and how much its gonna cost - it seems that they are more costly than redoing this pool which stinks.

I got my rotomolded round 5person tub for a little under $2k a few years ago - we have loved it. In the summer u can turn it way down - its nice because a hot tub is always covered so the whole debris thing is not an issue. I have a drop in swg so it’s always ready to go.
If you plan to put it on a deck be sure it can support the weight when its full of water. Some reinforcement may be needed.

Yeah we are going to look at that. We may not be able to do a hot tub now due to cost and I am too chicken to buy a used one even though there seem to be quite a few around. I just know going to a dealer to buy one will be worse than going to buy a car.

We might just do one of those blow up ones to start with and see how it goes before spending on the real thing.

Seeing that we are probably ripping the pool out and either replacing it or doing without are there any decent pool kits that can be purchased these days?

Would need to be round for sure to match the spot of yard we have now. 27' would be the same size but we could go smaller and probably fill in the unused area with more stone (what's around the pool now that is).

Any brands that are ok or not ok?

Many tfpr’s are very happy with their kits from the pool factory as well as customer service - especially now that they offer a resin wall pool.

Makes sense.

Not cheap though at 6k for my size but I certainly see the appeal for it 27'X54" Saltwater Aurora Round Pool | Above Ground Pools

Also it appears the only all resin pools they have are 54", mine was 52" this would probably mean digging down the existing pool spot I assume.

Gotta say I strongly recommend the Saltwater Aurora!

Why would you need to dig down further?
Just says on the site that it should be partial in ground so I assumed it meant I had to dig down is all.

Anyone think next season this same pool will cost less? Is this 6k price standard for this pool or pandemic related. Essentially I am not sure what this pool used to sell for pre-covid

If the 6k included pump and filter it wouldn't be so bad.

It actually says “can” be, not should be. So you can do either.

There is usually a pre-season sale in Jan—Feb. That is when I bought mine.

Honestly, for that size pool, I don’t see it decreasing in price anytime soon, or at all. Also, if your current equipment still works, you don’t have to worry about equipment expense.

I have been using my old Intex equipment since installation, until I get electric run outside. it is working fine.

If I go with their pool are any of their pump/filter options worth it or should I just buy separately?

Same for a salt system?

I bought a Waterway pump and sand filter, and a CircuPool SWCG. Now just waiting for electrical. Had another guy come out yesterday for consult. Expecting his estimate today or Monday.

I would email them directly as inyopools doesn’t carry lomart parts- their pools do carry some prorated warranties- you may at least get a reduced price.

Repair? I wouldn’t try. I’d be worried about the safety of anyone and anything in the path of a collapse.

Replace? Well, it’s worth a try! You have some good advice from MD and others. Do keep us posted!
