Don't move handle with pump running!

While back washing the filter I turned the Multiport handle with the pump running. It slipped out of my hand on closed and immediately the lid popped off the pump basket. It broke and I need to replace it. The pool is brand new only installed a few weeks ago. What is the housing for the filter basket called and where can I get one?

Amazon has them for $56. It is called the Strainer Pot.

You know now but you always stop the pump before moving the multiport valve handle.

The new skimmer pot is due to arrive tomorrow. Without the pump running is it a good idea to bring the pool up to shock to prevent algae? Just until I get it fixed.

I would just dose or up to the high end of normal, and brush brush brush for awhile to mix the chlorine in.

How exactly do I replace the skimmer pot? Is it just threaded on?

Not sure what brand pump you have, but on mine you remove the lid and strainer basket. Then there's a u-clip that gets pulled off, then the pot slides straight out over the center "pipe".

It unscrews. Only about a half turn to get it off.

Got the new pot here in 36 hours from ordering. All back together in about 5 mins. Now it's filling back up to middle of skimmer.
