I would think a new controller is your best bet.
Please tell me you have video surveillance of your pool! Would love to see a robot actually pull in the caddy.
Are you using an extension cord, because the Dolphin power cord is short. Maybe that's why it is so short. If you do get a new controller and still want to use an extension cord, make sure to limit how far the cord can be pulled somehow.
