I got a Dolphin Atlantis second hand. It came with filter bag and I switched it to the filter plates. I take it apart and rinse the filter plates after every use. How often do I need to replace the filter plates with new ones.

As long as the filters are not broken there is no need to replace them.. The color will change, but it does not make the filters work any less than white ones.
I have an old Dolphin Premier that is about 6 or 7 years old and it still has the same filters.
I assume we are talking about corrugated filters that look like something you might find in a car..
