Forgive my ignorance, and I know that someone who knows will chime in on this. Does this plug in the skimmer look correct?

On old pools, the hole with the plug would be plumbed to your main drain and the plug would not be there.
On new pools, the hole has a plug because the main drain is plumbed back to the equipment pad and the hole is no longer used.

Pretty sure it's this style plug, installed from the bottom and from your angle it looks upside down.
Someone installed it inverted so the basket would sit down properly.
