Does IC40 totally shutdown with very high salt concentration?

We were flooding in Helene and ever since, the IC40 has not powered on. I've been dumping in a liquid chloine in the mean time.

I happened to be out at the pool equipment yesterday and when everything started up, I saw the IC40 start flashing and thought to myself, oh cool, maybe this is working now. But after a few sec, it went back to blank.

I did notice that the Intellicenter listed the Salt concentration at 7800ppm and with everything else going on, it just wasn't a high priority to drain and refill water to try and get that down.

however, when researching off-brand IC40 alternatives, I see someone mentioned there salt cell shuts down to protect itself when salt is that high. Does that mean all lights are on, its just not producing the electicial current to make the chlorine? Or is it possible the whole unit shuts off 100%? The latter would be great.

I guess I'll make a point to try and drain some water and see if I can get those levels down.

You need to test your pool using a K-1766 Salt Test - Salt

The cell can give you an erroneous salinity reading. You should never rely on the cell salinity if it is out of range.

Normally, the cell will continue generating with a high salt level over 4,000 ppm. But with a salinity of 7800, there may be other reasons the cell is shutting down.

The cell salt reading is usually incorrect when the temperature sensor in the flow switch fails. The flow switch assembly is an easy replacement. Read Pentair Intellichlor ICXX SWG - Further Reading

You can also cut the white wire to the temperature sensor, which defaults the temperature to 76F.

First step is knowing what the actual salinity is.
