Do I need to SLAM my pool?

Haha. Exactly....

Another day another 7ppm of FC lost overnight.
That is an incredibly large FC loss in hours of darkness. Can you try to post a couple pics of your pool please? Wide shots so we can see it from a couple angles?

Also, Just to rule it out…. You are verifying you hit your target after adding, correct ? I doubt the new bleach is bad, and would have suspected the old bleach as a possibility, but still. It’s a possibility.

Or your gallons is off.

Or pool math is set to the wrong gallons because you helped somebody else and forgot to configure it back to yours ? Ask me how I know. :ROFLMAO:

With water that clear, I’m thinking it’s a testing / adding goof.

That is a crystal clear, gorgeous pool. In one pic did I see the small 3 inch LED lights? No large light correct?

Also, how old is your pool? Has anyone ever removed the drain cover to clean or inspect?

Yes, those are 3" Jandy LED lights. Three of them. The pool is about 8-9 months old. I was taking care of the pool from day one. Never an issue. Testing water at least every 4-5 days. Never removed the cover to inspect. Should I consider it?

I'm trying to test every 2 hours and I do have to add LC mostly after each test. How soon should I be testing after I add more LC? The Chlorine appears to be new from Walmart. Not even dust on those 1gal bottles unlike from Lowes that I had before. I'm on my 9th gal.

My pool is just under 11k gal according to the engineering plan.

30 mins after adding. Just once to verify you reached your target as that is now suspect.

Is poolmath configured for 11k still ? If not it’s telling you the wrong amounts.

If everything above is good the only thing I could guess left is the filters. If they are harboring old algae that you’ve now cleared from the water you could be adding it back, which promptly gets eaten by the pool but you see the loss.

Time to break open the cartridge, brush the inside cavity top and bottom well and hose the cartridges down possibley a soak in a bleach solution after the rinse down. Also check the skimmer well like under the basket and behind the skimmer flap aka weir door...may have bacteria those places.

With a pool that new, I don't think you need to remove the drain cover. Perhaps later if needed The only other place algae could hide in your pool would be the skimmer area (skimmer bowl, behind the weir door, etc). So you might verify that area. That seems to be the only place algae could hide in your pool. So now I tend to focus more on chemistry. You might consider the following items to how you've been doing things:

According to your Poolmath logs, your CYA was about 60 a week ago, then you added 44 ounces of stabilizer which took your CYA to the high end close to 90. A bit too high perhaps. I wonder if you are experiencing some erratic FC behavior with such high numbers. So I would be inclined to try something different in your situation.

If the skimmer is clean, let the FC fall to about 20 and do another OCLT. Consistency is key, so be sure your water samples are taken from the same location and while the water has been circulating. Be sure to have a good FC reading of about 20 ppm. If it's 18 or 22, either is fine. Just be sure it's accurate before bedtime. Hopefully you are using a speedstir to help mix the reagents. Do part 2 of your OCLT the next morning before the sun hits the water and let's see if you receive a more consistent reading at that lower FC level. If not, we haven't lost much progress, but it would be good to know if that's the issue.

The app is still configured for 11K. I cleaned the filter about a week ago and didn't see anything unusual. I'm trying to clean it every month. Just in case I will clean it again now.

Just in case this is the Chlorine I'm using and this is what I have in the app. Looks correct?

Ok great !!

Ok great again. If you cleaned it last week it probably is fine. Open it and see regardless just in case, but it’s probably not it with the new info.

Right again.

So I got nothin for ya

But we have Pat and Wireform on the case as well and others will join as they wake up. Hang tight.

Super clean now
You're doing a great job and have been super vigilant. :goodjob: We have seen where exceptionally high FC levels can sometimes have some erratic testing behavior. Add to that it's simply exhausting to count FC drops at numbers as high as 60, 70, etc. Based on your water condition, filter, etc, I'm comfortable letting your FC drop to around 20 and doing a new OCLT at that lower range. Let's see if you receive a more consistent result tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
