Do I need to replace my Amerilite housing?

My light developed a leak after a liner replacement and trashed my LED bulb. I need to test it, but if the leak is at the cable, I have to replace the whole thing, correct? Here's a couple of pics. The rust in the back makes me think it's leaking at the cable. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks I was afraid of that. If I have to go that route, I was thinking about these units, since a new fixture and bulb would run about the same price. Has anyone used these before? I'm assuming they should be compatible with my niche.

I can't tell if the cable is the source of the water, but water is definitely getting into the rear of the unit. The place where you screw in the LED bulb and the electrical contacts looks corroded. For safety/electrical reasons, I recommend replacing the entire unit. I assume it's a 120V unit? The rust and especially the corrosion tells me water has been getting in for a while and not from the liner replacement (unless it was done a while ago).

In 1990, per American Pool Poducts (bought by Pac Fab, bought by Pentair), the originator of the Amerilite, which that looks to be, a fixture that has had water intrusion should be taken out of service and replaced. It can be dangerous. That was when virtually all lights were 120V. High voltage, conductive water, people are not a good combo.

Thanks guys. Researching replacements now (like the aforementioned FL sun seeker). I see there are water proof slice kits. Are they good to go or should I pull a new cable?

The lights you referenced all come with a new cable attached. Use the new, don't splice.
