After adding some concrete to our pool we wanted it to match the existing concrete spray deck. I got two estimates to have it done which ranged from $1200 for just the new concrete texture and color to about $5000 to texture the new concrete and put a fresh coat on the existing.
After talking to an installer who suggested I recita the existing concrete myself to save money I decided to also text the new stuff on my own. It actually went pretty smoothly and only cost about $650 in product and about $60 in some items I didn’t have, spray hopper from Harbor freight and a regulator for my air compressor.

Looks good and saved a chunk! After you spray the texture...do you drag over it with something to flatten it out the way that you do a knockdown finish on drywall?

trk,

So what is it? Is it like paint or drywall mud or???

Does it wear off over time like painted concrete?

Looks like you did a pretty good job... :thumleft:

Thanks for the post and the pics..

Yes and if I did it again I would have tested first. Everywhere on YouTube talked about barely dragging the trowel over it so you don’t smooth it out to much. I did this but by the end I learned to push a little more to get more of the look I had in the existing spray deck. The texturing also dries fast. Still turned out well just something I learned.

It is a lot like grout from what I could tell. You then put a sealer over it which it basically just their paint. The existing area is believed to have been done in 2005 and has very few areas of wear. Mostly the wear is only under some bushes that constantly rubbed against the area.
