DIY Chestnut Barrel Hot Tub - no bubbles to the jets

Hello All,

I am looking for some advice on a hot tub issue I have.

This is a DIY build which I have just finished so there is a good possibility I missed something along the way.

I plumbed it with a dedicated circulation pump for filtration, a 900w Balboa blower for air, and a 1.5 hp jet pump to run 7 jets which are Waterway poly jets with 1“ air inlets and 1.5“ water inlets.

I initially plumbed the blower into a Y with one leg going to bubble ring under the seat and the other going to the spa jets. When the jets are off the bubbles come through jets just fine and some to the bubble ring. When I turn the jets on, the bubbles stop.

I then unhooked the jets from the blower and hooked them to a long 1“ hose with the thought to use it as venturi and leave the blower for the bubble ring.

With the jets off I can easily blow through the hose and get bubbles from the jets, but when I turn the jets on it pushes water up the hose to about 3‘ over the water level.

Blowing into the hose as hard as I can get some bubbles in coming from the jets but stops as soon as a run out of breath.

I am thinking the jet pump is either too big or too small but wanted to reach out here for any input that might get me looking in the right direction.

Thanks for any advice.

Peter
