Dirty grease looking stuff in skimmer

This started after I cleaned out the tracks for my auto cover that runs under my coping.

I’m getting what looks and feels like dirty grease you would get off the under side of your car.

It’s leaving a ring in my skimmer box waterline

I can see an oil slick look on the water but only in the skimmer.

The pool has not been used yet this year It’s been open about 6 weeks and I have slammed it at opening and maintained chemicals since

Keep wiping it away and also consider throwing some tennis balls or a scum bug/ball in to catch it. If its remnants of your one time cleaning then it will eventually go away.

my stepson noticed some black in the skimmer last season and was worried about mold. I told him to stop using lotion before swimming.

If we had used it this season I would have thought about it but it’s unused so far this year
