Different Perimeter Freeforms

Contract signed, supposed to start digging tomorrow although likely that rain will hold us up a day or two. We signed contract for gunite 90ft perimeter free form and I've been searching searching trying to find pictures. We have the waterhose out in the yard but I also would love to see some irl pictures. We are trying to decide whether to add 10 more feet. We had a rectangular vinyl pool in a previous house that we both agreed was bigger than what we need(ed) and it also was 8 or more feet deep and this time we are only going to 6ft. We are adding a tanning ledge which I know will eat up some of the space. SO if you have pictures of your 90-100 perimeter freeform, please post pics! Bonus points if it has a tanning ledge!

HI! What a fun but scary time for you!!

We would love to see your yard where the pool is going as well as the design the PB did for you!

I suggest you read some of the threads in this area for ideas. There are several that are freeform. You might find what you are looking for. You can PM the OP of the threads to get their input.

Welcome to TFP!

I don't know what the perimeter is for our pool but we have a sun shelf and love it. Pics in link in sig. I will say that a 6' deep pool isn't great. It is too deep to stand up and too shallow to dive. 4'x5'x4' is perfect we think.

In my "vast" experience of being a pool owner (>1 year), your decision to build a sunshelf is a good one -- it will be well-used and loved. I have a tall family, and we have <6' depth -- I wish we had gone deeper for the inevitable divers (including my husband). But I love having plenty of usable depths in the pool for parties. For the kids that come, the depth is fine for cannonballs. I think that pool depth may be the most difficult and important decisions to make.

So I don't have an actual design from the pb yet. We've played with the shape using a waterhose. We live in a small town in Souh Arkansas with not many builders around and these are guys who, although they've been doing it for years (20+) and come highly recommended aren't exactly cutting edge lol. I would love to have a 3D graphic to help me envision but unfortunately I'm having to rely on my imagination! I'll snap some pictures tomorrow of the yard. We don't have. *too* much space to play with because we are trying to keep a large grassy area and also I'm being stubborn about keeping some trees. The 6' depth was a way for us to have a 'deep' end for cannonballs and treading. The plan is to slope from 6 up to 4ft about midway and then slope from 4 to 3.5 for the shallow. Goal is to keep slope from all being useable space (of course until you can't reach).

A 90 foot free form perimeter is most likely going to be around 30' long unless it is really narrow. Are you thinking of a traditional shallow and deep end or a sports/play pool with a deep middle like pooldv suggested? That would impact the advice on what depths to go.

My new build will be approx 109'. I was somewhat worried that this would be small because We have had much larger pools in the past. We first thought about a sports pool with the deep end in the middle but the builder said with a smaller pool your floor will feel like a constant slope up and down do to the short size.
After the shell was sprayed I was very happy with the dimensions. Check out my build for lay-out and pics so far.

I think mine is about 110' including the spa (18'x37' at widest parts):

We went with the 90 perimeter because when I got out there measuring it out I wasn't willing to give up anymore yard. They are digging now and I feel like we made the right choice. Using that money on a patio :) it ended up being 32 long and 18 wide at the most narrow point, so should be plenty big for us!
