DFW Texas Pool & Spa Build (Round 2)

Just talked to the PB. He advised their finishing up plumbing today and will be doing gunite tomorrow. Is it okay to do gunite when it's still wet? They did suck all of the water out and its supposed to be dry all day today so should dry out some.

Also the inspector left a note advising the windows that are within 5ft of the water need to be tempered glass. We have 3 windows within 4ft. He said we may just be able to advise the inspector we don't want to add that and see if he'll let us move forward. What are the chances of that? Uhhh, I didn't budget to replace 3 large windows. Hopefully it'll all work our fingers crossed...but it doesn't sound good to me.

The last year or two here someone did have to go through the big process of replacing various windows. Don't remember who/where though. I remember they were trying to limit the number somehow.

See if he'll allow a clear film application to the exterior, similar to anti-graffiti film used on commercial appllcations. That way if the glass does break, it will be bonded together and held in place. Should be able to have that done for less than $200. Just make sure the glass is really clean prior to installation.

Good thinking, I'll defiantly recommend this!

Woke up and plumbing guys are gone. Guess they're done, anything I need to look out for here? Also noticed they put the equipment in as well.

Oh and when so they plumb the downspouts? Thought they would have put that in as well, maybe that's another time?

I expect the downspout connections and drainage will be installed by the concrete prep crew and not the plumbers. Not sure though.

I see unions and good valves. Nice job! Make sure you label everything AND take a pic and write what every thing is as well. Print it out and put it in a folder with all of your pool paperwork.

Oh good idea Ed!

I'll confirm the downspouts will be done with the decking. Guess I assumed they would have been done at the same time. Would seem more efficient to me? Guess I'll ask tomorrow when they come to gunite.

Everything was already covered by the time I was able to see it. How will I know what to label? LoL

As long as everything looks good and is there that's supposed to!

Is it okay to do the gunite with wet/most soil? It rained this afternoon but has tried out and they pumped the water out. So should be able to try up tonight and tomorrow before they do it but will obviously still be moist. PB said it would be fine as it will help slow down the cure time being moist which is what we want.

Thoughts?

Your PB should be able to tell you "this line goes to return A" etc. VERY important info to know in the end.

Not sure about being able to shoot gunite on moist soil but it seems to make sense. He will have you watering it on this side so..........moist on both side should be double good!

Well we got gunite today!! Couple areas have holes with some water, is this normal? I just sent pics to the PB to ask so waiting on his reply.

Also when do we start watering? Tonight or tomorrow? I know he said for 10 days just don't recall him saying when it was okay to start.
