Deconstruction to Excavation

Old pool is almost finished being deconstructed and excavation to begin next week. The dilemma is with the deconstruction of the old, a lot of soil has been disturbed and since the old pool had a deep end, the hole is now even deeper.

The new inground Gunite pool will be rotated 90 degrees at a depth of 4 1/2' and the infinity edge will be facing the river. As we all know, the new pool must be installed on undisturbed soil. Any ideas of how to bring the bottom up to the appropriate level before installing the rebar? The only solution I have come up with is to build forms around the edges and use #57 to bring up the level. That will require approximately 120 tons +/-.20250110_115205.jpg

Welcome to TFP.

Is this an Owner Build? Are you the GC?

Do you have engineering drawings for the rebar?

What do your engineering drawings say about the fill?

Being that close to the water and with so much disturbed earth, you may need to consider using piers to support and stabilize the pool. As others have said, the engineering plans should specify how to stabilize the base. If the plans only call out how to build the pool shell, then a critical step was missed in the design process that should have taken into account that you were not building a pool on virgin ground but replacing an existing structure.
