We are purchasing a house, with a deck that was made for a spa/hot tub. It looks to be well constructed but I can't get information on the builder as it was made before this owner owned the house.

My question, how would you go about ensuring the stability and load capabilities of a pre established deck?

There are standard load tables available, online even. You need to plug in beam and joist sizes and spans. They usually reference psf (pounds per square foot), which you can calculate for your tub to determine the requirement. Hard to tell what size your supports are in the pics. If you calculate it yourself I’d recommend a “feel good” factor of 1.5...

Your deck looks well built, but most tubs when full are pretty dang heavy. Best would be to have a knowledgeable contractor or better yet an engineer comment on it. You don’t want to find out the hard way...
