Hi guys,
I have a Hayward Perflex EC40 D.E. above ground filter. Last year I used it with no problems along with a 3/4 HP pump. This year, so far, the water stops flowing through the filter after about 1-2 hours. If I shut the pump off and use the lever to shake off the DE, then restart the pump, it flows again (for another hour or two only). The pool is still cloudy from opening and I'm waiting for my new TF-100 kit to arrive. I see no evidence of air leaks or anything.
My question is, is a 3/4 HP pump sufficient to do the job with a Hayward Perflex EC40 D.E. above ground filter, or do I need a more powerful filter to move the water through? Or, is this just due to dirty water, algae, etc?
Thanks, Jeff
