Since the timer is out on my board I'm turning my filter on in the morning around 6 am and turn it off when I get home around 7 pm. The control center is in a goofy place so while I'm standing among the pipes and pump motors to turn it off I can feel the heat off the pump motor. It's been 100 degrees a lot so far this year here so my question is can I run the filter at night to keep the heat down on the pump in direct sunlight?

You can run the pump whenever you want - as long as you want - as long as it's fulfilling your skimming and chlorination (via the SWCG) needs. There's probably some benefit to running it more often during the day due to UV hammering your chlorine, but I'll let the chemistry experts chime in on that.

For what it's worth, pool pumps are designed to run 24/7 in all types of weather. It should be able to take the heat.
