Danger in over SLAMing

I had an algae problem this week. Monday morning pool fine, Monday night green. I got it all under control as of last night, hopefully it stays that way today. My concern is that I will be out of town this weekend and thus no pool care. Is there a danger in causing damage to pumps or other equipment if I over do the chlorine? My dad will check on the house but he is not a pool guy so I'm not going to ask him to perform a chemical test.

If I SLAM it tonight before I leave and have him add more without testing can this cause any issues (other then wasting money if not needed)?

Thanks

Within reason. See how much chlorine you have needed in the last 24 hours. Have him add the same while you are away.
