First off - I researched for the answer but could not find what I needed. Sorry if I missed it.

Point of Confusion: If I follow the FC/CYA chart and I keep 30-50ppm CYA levels, my FC needs to be >5ppm, however the T1000 test kit instructions, and various forum posts and guides, state that the kit is not accurate above 5ppm FC? Do I need to be using the TF-100 chlorine test every day then if I'm going to use the FC/CYA method, or am I missing something?

Correct. When you want to know what the FC level is, use the FAS-DPD test. You will eventually learn your pool, and be able to use the K1000 OTO test for a 'check' that there is chlorine there. Or be able to go 2 or 3 days between testing, just adding the 'normal' amount of chlorine each day.
