Hi,

I just got my kit, and doing a CYA test. I am unable to see the black dot at the bottom of the tube before the water level reaches the first mark. What does that mean?

It would seem your cya level is more than that line on the bottom.

Have you been using pucks up to this point?

I have never added anything except for 3" Chlorine tablets and PH Up. I am a new pool owner.

How many years of using tabs?

The most common way of reducing cya is water replacement. I.e. drain some water and replace.

Before doing that, I'd test again to be sure you tested correctly the first time.

100 is the limit of the CYA test, so you have to do a diluted test. Mix 50% pool water with 50% tap water. Use this mixed sample as your test water. Multiply the result by 2 for your CYA level.
