I was reading an article here that recommends having CYA at 70-80 for SWG. Pool logger has the same 70-80 recommendation.

The user manual for the RJ45 recommends 30-50. Which is correct and why?

Neither is "correct." Run whatever CYA you want.

Running your CYA 70-80 lowers the amount of FC consumed daily and will reduce the amount of cell runtime/output. This will lengthen the life of the cell.

Just make sure you maintain your FC for your CYA. Always follow this...Link-->FC/CYA Levels

As a side note, you'll find as our water/air temps drop, the demand on FC is much lower, so you can actually get-by with a lower CYA (i.e. 30-50). Not as stressful on the cell. Shortly you might even turn the cell off and go to liquid chlorine when the water temp falls below 60. But next swim season, you'll want that CYA of 70 for sure.
