Hi!,

My PS people say my cya is good at 40. Their range is 30 to 70. The chlorine/cya chart here for salt water pools doesn't go down to 40. They also have me shocking my pool weekly. I am ready to stop the shocking but need to feel more confident making this switch. SLAMing sounds like a big project. I have very little experience with this maintenance. Would appreciate any input. Thank you!

You can follow tfp advice or your pool service. Tfp's advice is based on science. Trying to mix the two will result in, well, mixed results. Tfp pools do not require weekly shocking like most non tfp pools.

Can you test your own pool water chemistry?
There is absolutely no reason to 'shock' a pool weekly.
