CYA dot on test kit still showing when full

Add stabilizer and add chlorine.

What test kit are you using?

How do you chlorinate your pool?

The test kit is the one recommended by TFP . TFP Pro.
I had a company doing it but want to do it myself as it difficult with them.

So I look in pool math for stabilizer and chlorine amounts?

Thank you for quick response

Put TFP Pro in your signature.

You can use PoolMath to calculate the chemicals needed.

What are your target values for CYA and FC?

thanks. Have added TFP Pro in Signature.

Today was first day trying to test etc so not sure about target values as the test kit doesnt give the CYA --kept seeing the dot.

Havent chorinated myself yet. Hope to buy the supplies tomorrow. Is there one better than another.

Ok. So I have pool math.
For current free chlorine have 2
CYA is 300
Keeps saying no tests logged.
Target Level is 31
Recommendation : Rear 1424 oz or 11 gallons or 11 (128oz)jugs by volume to reach your target

Does that sound right?

How did you measure a CYA of 300?
In post #1 you said the dot still showed with the tube full (essentially CYA below 20 if at all cloudy) and in post #11 you reported a CYA of 300.

Because that was the maximum. The dot never disappeared.
FC: 2
CC : 0
pH : 8.2
TA :160-170
CH: (16X25) 400
CYA : more than 300 as could see dot to top
Water temperature: Unknown. Outside air 71

You're reading the tube backward. Higher numbers are at the bottom of the tube. If the dot is still visible when the tube is filled, you have near-zero CYA.

Buy some granular CYA from your local pool store or hardware store. Add it to your pool using the sock method. Scroll down this page to the CYA section.

You still need to update your signature with test kit and details on all your pool equipment (manufacturers and model numbers).
Tthis assists us us in providing you help without needing to ask you each time for this important information.
It also provides a quick and easy reference for you.

Look at the side of the tube - the numbers are larger nearer the bottom and smaller near the top.
If you fill the tube with the 50-50 mix of R-0013 and pool water and can still see the dot when full, your CYA is less than 20-30.

Have a read thru:
Pool Care Basics
FC/CYA Levels
PoolMath

I had posted earlier. The CYA is still below 30. Almost disappears after but thats the limit on the tube.
FC 1.5.
CC 1.5

Pool is going green. I have bought a Nautilus robot cleaner which has done a good cleaning. Done the backwash. rinsed.

Do I need to go back to SLAM again?

You need to add stabilizer/CYA and chlorine as instructed in your prior thread at...

And you need to follow the SLAM Process

Ok. So I have tablets bought from Costco. They have been in the water the last few days are are still undissolved. But then I read in pool Wiki that tablets already have stabilizer. But I have just added stabilizer in a sock according to pool math.

Do I now need to buy liquid instead?
