With the Taylor CYA test, the directions say until the black dot just disappears. Does this mean until it becomes barely visible, or add drops until you can no longer see it?
I can best tell you what I do. Add until you get to a line, let's say 100. Glance, don't stare. If you see the dot, add to the next line. Repeat until you succeed in not seeing the dot. You can pour the solution back into the mix bottle and do the procedure until you are comfortable with it.
Last year I called Taylor and spoke to the person/chemist that designed the test. He was very helpful in clarifying that if you still see a faint shadow you are not getting an accurate reading. It must completely disappear.
Following those instructions will get you to the right CYA level.

Just until it disappears. It will get more cloudy as add drops if you have a readable level. My first days of doing this test confused me because I didn't realise cya was something I needed to add. I was just confused and didn't know of this website. I was following a guy on YouTube and he would call it conditioner and other things.
I now enjoy doing all of the tests.
