On Friday the crew applied a LOT of cement to the exterior walls/shell of our spa. Now it seems really thick and uneven in places. I have no doubt they will make the size the same all the way around, but haven’t been told why it was done and if it’s normal. I’m worried about future separation of materials. Anyone see this before? Obviously the coping will also need to be adjusted. Below pics are before/after but they still aren’t done. Waiting to talk with them tomorrow, but any insight is appreciated.
Yes, it’s 8ft inside. I originally was wondering if they wanted to thicken the walls because of the diameter, but still think the original shotcrete would be suffice since it’s only 18” above grade.
That looks like surface bonding cement and my guess is they are fattening up the wall to accommodate the cap thickness so when they finish outside it's more pleasing. Stone for the outside I presume?
