Converting new pool to SWG - procedure/best practice needed

So, I need 8 bags. The discount starts at 6 bags. I plan to get 10. Should I get more? How often do I need to add (and is it several bags at a time) and does it store well?

How often to add?
I am in the midwest and i started the season, June around 3800. We were a bit dry this summer so between backwash and splash out i never added. I just did a normal close.
How long does it store?
Well it has been stored on the beaches of the Great Salt Lake and Dead Sea since Noahs arc got beached on a mountain. If your bag turns into a block just toss it in the pool and by next morn it will be dissolved.
