I recently got the dolphin pool cleaner and was wanting to leave the control box in a plastic storage box next to my pool so when Iam out of town I can leave it to automatically clean the pool. The box gets hot during summer and want to know if it will damage the control box?

Some electronic components are affected by heat. Most electronics have an environmental range that they can operate in. Does your unit have an owner’s manual? It may list the specs for operating temperatures as well as storage temperatures. Typically, these temps are pretty high (higher than the box will get to).
Most electronic controls have an upper temperature range of about 150ºF±, so be careful if the outer box is in direct sunlight and it's a dark color. It can pretty hot in those things. If you could sit it in the shade or under a deck, etc. that would help.
If you're unsure how hot it gets, I'd suggest getting a thermometer and putting in there and checking it during the hottest part of the day a few times to see how hot it gets.
I looked through the manual and didn't see an upper operating temp for the control box, so you may want to call Maytronics to see what they say.

I would treat your power supply with kid gloves. They don't appear to be the most internally robust builds. The folks at maytronics support suggested we keep the power supply in the house when not in use and definitely don't leave it outside when temps are expected to be below 50. Good luck

I've been thinking about replacing my pressure side cleaner with a robot and I've been wondering how to keep the control box by my pool pump pad (mostly shaded but exposed to rain). Has anyone come up with a clever system for protecting it? The best I can come up with is a tupperware container with tight lid, numerous small holes just below the upper lip for venting, holes near the bottom in case water does get in, and the control box sitting on a brick inside the box. I guess I'd have to find a robot with wifi since that would be way more practical.
