Continuation of an odyssey

So is the Hayward ColorLogic 4.0 bulb I bought as bad as the reviews say it is? I am starting to think buying the least amount of pool you can and then upgrading it yourself might be the best idea for a new build. I didn't get a warm fuzzy about my light choice from the reviews.... Maybe I should trade it back in for a halogen light and get a replacement module?
Not if it (or two of them) works for 7 years with no issues. ? But there is something to be said for your alternate approach too.

Okay, good to hear.. I understand the 4.0's seem to be better than the 2.5's were. But it's hard to tell how much from the reviews, since the initial ones were so negative. (And by the way the Pentair 5G's aren't much better reviewed. Slightly.)

I decided on it because I liked it in a neighbors pool. I suppose with the "alternative approach" if I make it less than 5 years with it, it's only a $350 mistake (the alternative's price- a Hayward halogen fixture and an Amazon/e-bay LED bulb with good reviews, not the $600 for the Hayward ColorLogic)... nothing in the grand scheme of things. If more than that.. yeah get another ColorLogic at that point... See what I obsess with while waiting for the "next step"?

Though at $80 a bulb for an aftermarket LED... you could replace one every year for 8 years.... so there is that...

My pool will be about half your size so you having two makes sense when I have only one... :)

So I guess they are going to pick up the check this afternoon for the decking... Hopefully they will get it done before someone decides to "liberate" some pavers. As it is they are killing the Arizona gravel underneath them! It's turning browner! :) But I am looking forward to getting rid of the dust bowl I presently have for a back yard. Friday it is.. hopefully the sub will work for more than 2 hours this time...

No Show on Thursday. No show today. Even for the check. This is never going to end. "Monday". Yeah I won't wait up for them.

People actually have the audacity to ask why for the most part I do EVERYTHING myself. The quality ends up better too....

FRED! you should be enjoying the deep end while you can.. at least there is a puddle down there!

Meanwhile there is a ravenous pack of mongrels sneaking up on you!
Yeah I am amazed that it hasn't evaporated off by now. I am starting to think that I should either pump it out or add bleach to it! :)

That picture was one of the only ones my son took that didn't have the dogs at my feet....

In a lawn chair wearing crocs with dress socks, you might have the ultimate dad outfit.

I'm threatening my kids with this next time they act up.

Yeah, I was cleaning up the house yesterday so I pretty much just had a mishmosh of clothes on.. Most of the matching stuff was in the washer or dryer at the time. They weren't even real Crocs by the way... It did make the picture better, tho didn't it?

So, the masons were supposed to be here at 2:30PM. No show again. The PB showed up at 3:25PM to pick up the check, however. He told my wife earlier in the day that they were the "A" team. Different definition than what that meant back in the land of cold, apparently. Hopefully we will start to get a deck tomorrow... We will see...

I actually am eating some of the Halloween candy that used to be where the pool supplies were at the Wally World...

At about 10AM I sent the PB a picture of the backyard security camera and "¿Donde estan los albañiles? - - - Fred" via text message (he speaks less Spanish than I do) this morning and to their credit they told me that the pool on the other side (like 35 miles away) of Tucson is morning and we are going to be at 2:30 PM to when they stop. They came at 2:30 sharp with sand and mortar and then realized with the trench still open they couldn't get equipment back there. So gone by 3:20 PM. Left the sand and then was like, oh, we still have the pavers to move. "A" crew. At least they tarped the front yard and mortar.

I wound how much they will get done each day starting at 2:30PM?

Though it sounds like they might be closing the trench up in the morning tomorrow.... We will see..

I also had another run in with the school district about my #2 son today about something that should have been resolved a year and a half ago.

It never ends here... Ever...

So they did a small amount of coping and sand work yesterday. Maybe 2.5 hours worth. Monsoon hit and they all got pelted by pea sized hail... Several trees were blown down near me and it blew open the cover on my hot tub and put a fair amount of dirt in the bottom. Enough that I will have to hit it with the shop vac tonight. It's due for a water change anyway.

This morning they sent someone in to fill up the trench by hand. So some small progress is being made.

There is enough dirt blown into the deep end that I plan on pumping it out and hosing it down..

They did a full dayish of landscaping today. They filled in the trench and sloped the area around the pool for drainage. They finished the coping around the perimeter.

They also buried the conduit for the light without it being done on the pad end... Duh...
