Don't know if anybody mentioned it but Ekonomy Pools has refillable gallons of 12.5% 4 to a crate. I think they have a NWish side location. they also run a buy 11 get the 12th free punch card promotion. The crate deposit is $8 and I don't remember the price but it is fresh and stronger than most of the other sources. Ace Hardware sometimes does a good sale in the late spring, as do some of the grocery stores/walmart - often $5 for 2 gallons of 10%
Yeah, I am aware of that and even have scoped it out but I need to be able to get there when they are open. :). Price is four buck ish per gallon. With the 2.5% strength difference and the punch card thing, it's slightly cheaper per percent per ounce than Walmart. From my location far, far SE though it's not too convenient being all the way up at Speedway. The one in Marana is probably a non starter.

Likely I will buy the vast majority of LQ from them. I was just whining about Wally because literally they had the two packs until literally days before I went in to buy. It would have been convenient. But that Rita Ranch Walmart is pretty awful anyway in general. I bet Green Valley WM still carries it, but I haven't been that way in a few weeks.

I would have had some on hand already and not had to make a special trip tomorrow, that's all. I could also just used bleach too I guess...

The E-Konomy bleach and muriatic acid is literally daily delivered HASA. Out of Eloy, AZ.

Fred! It is about to really happen!! OH YEAH!!
I should not admit to this but the PB told the wife to let the kids swim in it. I am not going to take that risk personally until I see some FC in the water but 3/6 of us already did.

I agree it won't hurt the pool nor startup though... Apparently no one was bothered by the 8.0 pH...

you know, I knew Corona de Tucson was SE but then I thought I read you mention NE side for some reason. I hear ya - I come all the way in from the other side of Benson. Make my run to Ekonomy and Trader Joes at the same time LOL

So there are actual chemicals in the pool and everything is running. Already just circulating the water it looks better. CYA was added, there is Trichlor in there for the time being (I will do a complete test tomorrow) and one bag of cal hypo was added. Plus a whole gallon of muriatic acic. I think it is all fine, even the cal hypo based on the original numbers. But by Saturday I will be switching to liquid chlorine. So I am almost ready to terminate this thread.

There is another day of landscaping from the PB, and probably the whole weekend for the boys and me...

So not quite yet... IMG_20190919_142101741.jpgIMG_20190919_142403129_HDR.jpgThat gravel pile is the kids and mine... :)

There is already a lot of gunk in the skimmer and pump basket, so I suppose I will get pretty accustomed to cleaning those and the filter cartridges out really soon.

That water looks pretty! Not envying you having to move all that rock.

Did you get any hairnets for the skimmer basket yet? You will be amazed at how much stuff they trap and keep from going into the filter.

How did they add the CYA?

Looking forward to your first full set of test results. Use PoolMath and share your testing results here.

Moved about 5 tons of gravel today, including relocating the stuff that the PB spread where he should not have.

Borrowed an electric demolition hammer from a neighbor. Cheap Chinese $100 thing. Totally awesome toy, the state of Arizona should issue one to all new single family home buyers because of the concrete soil here. Dug the French Drain ditch deeper with the jackhammer. I might break up the concrete footer on the wall for the PB's "landscape" crew since I still don't think they have a clue how to drill the promised drainage hole. They were supposed to come on Tuesday, then Thursday then Friday to finish off.

Replaced the light switch for the pool with a TP-Link Kasa switch. Intermatic box acts too much like a Faraday shield. Will relocate it to a plastic covered switch box tomorrow. Nice being able to phone or "Alexa" control is, but the signal in the Faraday shield is too weak to be reliable.

Also... Solar covers work really well, but man are they a royal PITA.

Considering options, including building the ABS DIY one posted here.

Getting there. Hopefully I will close up this thread by the middle of next week...
