Confused.. CYA numbers

Unless you have calcium scale flakes from the SWCG, no real reason to push the TA lower. Just manage pH in the 7's and the TA will come down.
 
How would you interpret this pH? It's a deeper orange than any of the markers.

It doesn't look fully mixed - I see a clear section near the lower end of the vial.

Additionally, try using 4 drops instead of 5. This can sometimes help with the color matching.
How old are your reagents? Are the reagents always stored in a climate-controlled environment?
 
Reagents are new, my kit is less than a month old. I tested again and its looking much better.
