Hello all. We have a mild leak in our above ground pool, confirmed this weekend using the bucket test. Thing is, I am in IL and was planning to close the pool next weekend. I have no idea where the leak is. We do have a good heater, I can turn it on and hunt for the leak if it is best for me to find and fix now, but I am also wondering if we should wait until the spring to locate and fix the leak then? Does it make a difference?

Winter may destroy an empty AG pool. It is built to withstand water pushing out on the wall not to stand empty with wind and possible snow pushing it inward. I say fire up the heater and try and find the hole. If it's on the wall there may be a wet spot where the leak is. I would check seams as well.

The alternative is to keep monitoring through the winter and top it off from time to time using your outdoor garden hose. I keep my outdoor hose at the ready by blowing out the water with compressed air after every winter use. You said you had a mild leak so you should be able to keep the water level up until you can address the leak next season.
