Hey everyone!

I came across this amazing site a few days ago in my quest to get a better understanding of how to maintain my pool. A few months ago my wife and I recently purchased a new home that has an above ground pool! Fast forward to this past week and we finally got around to opening it. We had a few house projects to wrap up beforehand. The state of the pool was not great when I did open it. I was wondering if someone could give me some guidance on this.

I attached some pictures of the pool, equipment, and chemicals that were left over at the house. I just finished adding water to the pool and hooking up the pump. I decided to not hook up the water heater until the pool is clean plus o can’t find the hookups for this.

Thank you all!

Welcome to the forum!
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100/Pro or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool
