Communication Lost - Pentair EasyTouch and VSF Pump

Looking at instructions in the manual, what address is the pump configured for? Do you also have the pump assigned to a circuit in ET?

The IntelliFlo VS control panel is disabled when communicating with the EasyTouch system. Note that EasyTouch will not start communicating with the IntelliFlo VS until the pump is assigned to a circuit. The IntelliFlo VS default pump address is one which is the only address that works with EasyTouch.

It would also be worth cleaning both the connector and contacts on the PCB with some isopropyl alcohol to remove any dirt or debris.

Guinness,

Again, thanks for the help. I checked the pump address and cleaned the connectors, and still no luck. I think I'm left with either the connector being wired incorrectly, as I mentioned or the com port was blown at some point on the pump.

I doubt the internal connector is wired incorrectly. Can you test for continuity at each end of the connector (and then with the cable attached) using a multimeter?

It was the pump! I found a new one locally via Facebook marketplace and installed last night. I didn't know my old pump was so loud :)...

I was going to look for a used drive unit, but I found a new pump for $1100 and a drive unit from a reliable source was $900...

Really appreciate all the help.

My guess is the preiovus owner rewired to the load side so they wouldn't have to buy a new pump when the connection failed or the PB pulled one over on them. Judging how they left the house after we gave them an extended lease back my bet is on the owner. What's crazy is they had the pump running nearly pull bore for 8hrs a day.

Shawn,

Glad you were able to get it fixed... :goodjob:

Just for reference... I run my IntelliFlo at about 1200 RPM 24/7 and you almost have to touch the pump to make sure it is still running. The whole point of a VS pump is to run it as slow as you can to get the job done.

The pump P/N you posted above is for IntelliFlo VS with SVRS. I have one and they can be a real pain on shutting off due to false entrapment alerts. I hope the one you bought was not the same part number.

Thanks,

Jim R.

You scored a great deal on a new pump. As you discovered, the economics of replacing the drive (even used) just isn't worth it. That goes double for the age of your existing motor. Please Create Your Signature with your equipment as that helps us when answering questions.

thanks for serving! I was Army for 11 years.
Shawn,

After I retired from the AF, I worked with ex-Army Officer. One day he put his hand on my shoulder and said "I respect you AF guys". I said ok and waited for the other shoe to fall. He said meant it because in the Army, the Officer's send the enlisted men out to fight, but in the Air Force the enlisted men send the Officers out to fight.

In the big picture he was absolutely correct.

Thanks,

Jim R.
