Colorlogic 4 voltage misprint on label?

Hayward Aqua Rite Pro (T-15)
Everywhere else it says this is 120v 40w

Is this a misprint on the label that makes it look like 12v? (Just want to confirm before I plug it in to standard outlet to test, just bought it)

The lights come in 120V and 12V versions.

You have a 12V version that needs to be connected to a transformer.

Thanks,

That’s the exact model showing on the label, Hayward website says it’s 120v (for that exact model). Call Hayward to confirm?

Also, I tried connecting though the transformer, it lights up but doesn’t change any Colors if I try to change the Colour though Omni PL

Wired as: Light <> Transformer <> High Voltage Relay

And configured as CL4 in Omni PL

It’s blinks multiple times to send command when I change Colours but colours don’t change

It’s got multiple Colours on and stays as this Colours as shown in attached pics.

Anyone knows more about the voltage and the colour issue? Isn’t that big heavy metallic part behind the light a built in transformer for the LEDs? 12v Color logic lights seem to be slimmer without that bulky part at the back.

I doubt the light would light up if you powered a 120V light with an internal transformer from a 12V power source.

I see your point that Hayward lists this model 40 watt LED light as 120 volts.

Note that the Installation Manual says - https://www.hayward-pool.com/assets/documents/pools/pdf/manuals/ColorLogicLED-SP05xx.pdf ...

The Hayward ColorLogic lights are controlled via power-cycling. No special controller is required to activate the light and switch it through different modes. The light fixture can be switched with any basic on/off light switch (must not be used with a dimmer).

If a Hayward PSC2100 Pool/Spa Control System is being used, wire the LED light fixture to either the main "LIGHT" circuit, or the "AUX 4" circuit. Please note that if the "LIGHT" circuit on the PSC controller is used, the controller must be configured for a non-dimming light (dip switch #1 down).

Have you looked at this manual - https://www.hayward-pool.com/assets...nuals/ColorLogic-ProgramingGuideallmodels.pdf

Hi All, wanted to provide you all an update if you get into this situation, I opened a ticket with Hayward, they took few weeks to contact me back to tell me the light is 12v if it says 12v on the label and that it's probably defective if it's not changing colours (I even changed the transformer since mine was about 12 yrs old) but no go.

Finally I decided that I am going to take the risk and plug the light in 120v on the primary wires of the transformer so see it that will work before I decide to throw it away and guess what? it works as expected.

Hayward has a major liability issue by printing wrong voltage on the label for this product in my opinion and it's unfortunately no one has documented it even in their tech support dept.

There were may signs that pointed to the light being 120v vs 12v such has:

The box, the manual and the product page on their website said its 120v
the wire gauge is thinner than the wire gauge requirement for 12v lights in the manuals
it's got a bulky back (which is probably a built in transformer)

Did you notify Hayward of your findings?

Tell Hayward you are reporting your findings to the CPSC...

I will call them on Monday, it took 1 ticket opened on Aug 9 and one call per week me trying to get someone to talk to me , they don't seem like they want to talk to consumers. I was on hold for 1-2 hours each time I got transferred to tech support with call eventually dropping, but I got lucky yesterday morning and did get to speak to someone. if I was a pool professional then they get immediate support. It seems like Hayward doesn't have resources to support consumer products that we may buy online (open line), they only have support staff for their expert line products that you get through installers.

I am in Canada, maybe others' experience is different in the US. I tried calling the US support number but they didn't want to help me since I am from Canada and asked me to called Hayward Canada.
