Cloudy and Won't Keep CL

Quick history: We were battling some staining early in the summer. Turned out to be iron, and some citric acid resolved that. Took quite a bit, and I know that can eat up CL. Fast forward to two weeks ago and suddenly we have a very cloudy pool and CL levels won't come up. I figured it was lingering citric acid eating the CL so put some dichlor in and turned up the SWG. Still cloudy and low CL.

Finally decided to test with my Taylor 2005, and my CYA was zero. I did that 2 days ago, but it's still cloudy and not holding CL well.

Current numbers from my Taylor 2005:

FC <1
TC <1
PH 7.1
TA 100
CYA 35
Salt 3200

My current plan of action:
- 3 pounds of soda ash
- 2-3 pounds of Dichlor
- Clarifying agent to help cloudiness

Any issues with this plan? And any order that should be done in?

Appreciate any advice or insights!

I would not add soda ash. Your pH will rise on its own.

I would get a test kit with a FAS-DPD or get just the FAS-DPD to add to you kit. You need it to perform the OCLT, or SLAM Link-->Test Kits Compared

If you fail OCLT, the follow the SLAM process to clear your pool. Link-->SLAM Process

Interesting. So another bit of info, we have an auto-cover so it's protected from sun breakdown 99.9% of the time. Would it be safe to assume we're going to fail the OCLT and just move straight to SLAMing?

You can’t slam until you have the FAS-DPD.

Add 5ppm of liquid chlorine per day until it arrives. Then start slam.
