I'm closing up my Bestway 18" AGP today and 2 questions came to mind while doing it which I hope someone here might be able to help with:
*Note* - I'm not draining the pool level since we are on a well and to refill it with approx 6700 gallons next year will tax (if not burn out) the well pump
1) I am using the black "Lincoln style" hats and plugging up the two ports "B" and "C" on the pool but was wondering if during the winter there was a chance that one of them might dislodge with the ice and subsequent thaw thereby draining the pool down to that level. So I was thinking about putting a second "hat" on the outside ports as a precaution but was worried that it might distort the inner diameter. Does anyone have a suggestion on this or if the additional "insurance" would work?
2) Port "A" leading to the filter. I've disconnected it and shut off the valve at the port. However I'm concerned that with ice expansion and then thawing in the valve, that's going to potentially be a problem in the spring. Can anyone vouch for the durability of the valve itself or is there another option that people do when they leave their pools up for the winter and don't drain below that port. Again, it's more of an issue with burning out the well pump more than anything.
Thanks in advance!
