Closed Pool Leak in Skimmer Barrier

Hi, I closed my above ground pool a week ago and I use a skimmer barrier so I don't have to drain the pool. I do this every year and it has been great. Unfortunately, it looks like the skimmer barrier is leaking a little bit and I am afraid during the cold weather it will ice up and possibly crack the skimmer. I was thinking of putting in a siphon to get the water level below the skimmer or even the return and then popping out the barrier. The return plug is a little harder to get out. Any ideas or thoughts?

Simply fill the skimmer with cut up noodles. Skimmer plugs are not a true barrier and in fact will dislodge during the winter. Their purpose is to block the water upon closing, allowing the pb to blow skimmers free of water, then they are plugged and antifreeze and cut up noodles are used.
