Clogged or leaking skimmer basket

Hello everyone,

We just purchased a home with a pool and spa. We noticed that we lost so much water overnight because we filled the pool up half way of the skimmer opening. Next two days we lost about up the bottom of the skimmer. We haven’t lost anymore after that. We have the skimmer valve offfor a week now and it has no more water in it. Does this mean the skimmer line has a leak?

I'm sorry to say it does sound like a leak somewhere in the skimmer set up. It is a common place for leaks.

I appreciate the insight. We got a tech to look at the skimmer leak. If it is he will have to replace it. Cost is $2k
